This study investigates the crucial role of green public spaces in Santo Antônio, the historic district in Recife, Brazil. The research focuses on reducing heat island effects, improving urban ecology and promoting the well-being
of the community.

The study begins by highlighting the many challenges facing Recife, including vulnerability to climate change, poor infrastructure and housing shortages. These challenges highlight the need for strategic interventions to reduce heat island effects and improve the quality of life for the city's residents. The study examines the effectiveness of various strategies, such as the use of green roofs, pocket parks and the strategic placement of vegetation.

In essence, this study examines how green public spaces can revitalise urban areas, proposing innovative solutions to complex challenges and highlighting the many benefits of integrating nature into the urban landscape.
